So I just won a lobster out of an arcade game… (at Paddle Wheel Bar & Grill)
I don’t always drink beer, but when I do it’s out of a bucket. #flippycup
Today marks one year since the world decided to throw us the biggest curveball it had. One year since I received a call that Danielle was having a seizure and needed to get to a hospital. One year since I was told by a sobbing ER doctor that she was “probably going to die”. One year since I told a hospital chaplain to “get out of my fucking way please, I need to get my wife to Iowa City”.
There were days where her giving a thumbs up or wiggling her toes on command were considered an enormous victory. Looking back it’s hard to imagine how we stayed hopeful during those times.
Danielle has fought so hard to get where she is now, and isn’t stopping. Some of the doctors will say that the one year mark is where progress will kind of plateau. However I in a conference with her therapy team yesterday they say she is still making huge gains even in the 4 months she’s been there and will they will continue working with her.
I can’t express how thankful we are to have all the people in our lives who have sacrificed so much time and energy into helping us. The Internet has a big heart. As Danielle grows more and more independent every day neither of us will ever forget each and every person who helped her get to where she is.
One time someone on the Internet got really mad at me for calling this a caprese because I put onions in it.
